(From Our Own Correspondent.) SCHOOL AND SETTLERS’ ANNUAL PICNIC. The annual school and settlers’ picnic was held in Mr 'Henry’s farm, adjoining t-h© local hall, on Friday, February 25, and, though the attendance was small in the morning, a good crowd assembled in the afternoon, all being kept busy watching or participating in the various races and field events. The weather was threatening all day, but the rain held off till nightfall. The thanks of the committee are due to those ladies who. prepared and served luncheon and afternoon tea, and all others who helped in various ways to make this year’s picnic the l success it undoubtedly was. The dance in the evening was well attended, about 40 couples taking the floor. Dancing to the music provided bv Mrs Bennett proved replete, with pleasure, though one or two rowdy ones somewhat marred the proceedings.
