NORMANBY.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TOWN BOARD MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Norman by Town Board last evening there nyero present: Commissioners C. J. Preston (chairman), T. Lloyd, P. Leydon, A. Galloway and A. Hills. A letter was received from Mr A. Paine, chairman of the Horticultural Society’s entertainment committee, asking that improvements 'be done to tjie back of the stage in the Town Hall.— It was decided that the background be painted. The engineer of the Main Highways Board wrote asking foT particulars of further claims for which payment was desired before' March 31. —The clerk was instructed to supply the particulars.
The secretary of the Taranaki Local Bodies’ Association forwarded a copy of the rules, drawing the board’s 1 attention to clauses four and five. These provide that each local authority shall have one' vote only at meetings of the association.
The clerk reported that the Chief Inspector of Explosives had visited Norniaitby, and had expressed himself well satisfied with the fireproof box which the board had installed for the cinematograph machine. As there is still a; good deal of blackberry remaining uncut, the clerk was instructed to arrange for the Noxious Weeds Inspector to visit _ Normanby with the object of taking action against those responsible. Accounts totalling £247 were passed
