China’s population was fifty timer, that of Australia’s, hut she imported from Britain only one third more chemicals than Australia. Despite their troubles, the Chinese were developing the consumption of chemicals, but as tlie population of Australia increased, is would become potentially an infinitely greater consumer of Britain’s chemical products.
