RUGBY.
A WIN FOR ENGLAND
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT. LONDON, Feb. 12. At Twickenham, in dull, foggy weather, before an attendance of 40,000, England beat Ireland at Rugby by eight points to six. CONTROL OF THE GAME. SUPPORT FOR. IMPERIAL ADVISORY BOARD. LONDON, Eeb. 12. Mr Baxter, speaking at a Rugby Union dinner, said: “I am strongly in favour of the formation of an Imperial Advisory Board in which the Dominions- must have a voice in the government of the game. This is absolute!y necessary. I am convinced the Dominions must be brought into our counsels or we will lose them, which would be unforgivable.” Sir Rowland Hill said: “I am passionately attached to the idea of one set of laws wherever Rugby is played, aud I am keenly anxious we should do everything in our power to bring the Dominions into line with England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, although I am not prepared to make the colonials members of the International Board. I am anxious to follow Marylebone’s lead and give them every opportunity of bringing any question for the benefit of the game before* the International Boaixl. I am hoping to be able to induce the. International Board to set up an Advisory Board.”
