NOTES.

A number of members of the S.T.A.A. arc still touring and. are generally availing themselves of information obtainable from the secretary. A motorist who has occasion to use the Boylan Road almost daily has written to "Magneto” pointing out the desirability of having the bracken fern, cut along this winding piece of road. Having been along there frequently, X can heartily endorse this suggestion, as the heavy growth of fern has seriously affected the visibility at a number of the turns.

fThe membership of the S.T.A.A. now > stands at 576, and it is expected that before long it will reach the 600 mark. Such satisfactory progress as has been made during the comparatively short period that the association has been in existence indicates that motorists appreciate the value of being associated with a body which has already done' so much in their interests. The large amount of sign-post erecting done by the association is in itself a valuable work and one that has been especially appreciated during the touring season. The benefits of being able to travel long distances without the necessity of enquiring one’s way is at once apparent, and this has been made possible during the last few years solely as a result of the activities of the various automobile associations. A house situated close to the Waipuku railway crossing recently became untenanted, and as it interrupted the view of motorists proceeding south, application was made by. the S.T.A.A. to the Public Works Department, whose property the house is, to have the cottage moved to a more suitable position. The first issue of the S.T.A.A. Quarterly Bulletin will shortly toe available for free distributions among members. It has been carefully compiled by the sub-committee set up for the purpose, and is now in the hands of the printer. By courtesy of the secretary of the association "Magneto” was privileged to glance through the manuscript of the publication, which contains much of interest to motorists. Particulars of the objects and achievements of the association are included together with a number of articles which should appeal to all members. It is understood that the Bulletin will be available for distribution within a week or so. As a result of the request of the S.T.A.A. the Hawera County Council has decided to have cleared away the bushes which interrupt the view of the approach to the Toiiaghoc bridge. This should make for a considerable im-

fprovement, and it is trusted that the Shatter will be attended to at regular intervals in order that the view, at that particular point should not again be interrupted.
