LIVELY BATTING BY THE VICTORIANS. .BIG SCORE AGAINST WAIKATO. (BY TELEGRAPH PREBB ASSOCIATION.) HAMILTON, Feb. 8. The Mellwurne Club team commenced a two-dav match against Waikato at Seddon ‘.Park this morning. Ihe weather was ideal and the wicket good. The attendance was 1500. The, home side was disposed of after an hour and a half’s play for 119 runs -Badely 29, Going 24, and Campbell 11 being the only batsmen to reach double figures. Dakin secured four wickets for 9 runs. ... • , The visitors, who occupied the wickets all afternoon, had scored 395 runs for nine wickets at the drawing of stumps, the howling possessing no real terrors. Warwick Armstrong, who was the top scorer with 60 not out, played many line .shots. Onyons played delightful cricket, getting his runs quick|v. I\*odg€rson was another forcing batsman, though there was an element of luck in his innings, ltansford also played class cricket, and Sandford got his runs in short order by neat placing.
