AUTUMN FIXTURE. OPENING DAY TO-MORROW. Witl\ fields of moderate numbers, but comprising go-oil quality jperforju-eit®, indications point to interesting sport on the, opening day of the- Taranaki Jockey Club’s autumn meeting at New Plymouth to-morrow. 'The- track is reported to be in splendid order, and should afford ideal racing conditions, whiL the varied appointments of the course have received the usual careful attention which assists in maintaining the popularity of the sport. Among the officials, the' important duties of judge and .starter will be carried out by Mr W. P. Russell and Mr C. O’Connor respectively, both of whom may be relied upon to serve the common interests of competitors and spectators with the utmost efficiency. The racing will be watched by the chief stipendiary steward, Mr J. McMahon, and the judicial committee i appointed comprises: Messrs L. A. Nolan, C. H. Weston. R. H. Pigott, A. R, Standish, 13. H. Cliaiiev and A. McL. Thomson. If favoured with a continuance of the present fair weather conditions, the New Plymouth r'endezvons, both tomorrow and Saturday, should lie the scene of large gntheiing-s of sporting .nitrons. . , For the convenience of visitors- pro-•c-eding from the southern part of the province, a special train, will leavei Hawera on both '-days for New Plymouth.
