AL*. James Willacy, a well-known and respected farmer of the Waverley district, whose death by accident is recorded in a. Press Association message from Marlon, had been a resident at Kohi for many years. Ho was a prominent churchman, and had frequently officiated at services at the Hawera Gospel Hall. At the meow iif< or tiie Stratford Hospital Board on Tuesday, the chairman announced that Nurse Stevenson, of Stratford Hospital, had come top for New Zealand .in the late State midwifery examination. At the previous examination. Nurse Condon, also trained at Stratford, was top for New Zealand. This record, he said, was unprecedented in the Dominion. The medical 'superintendent having presented a gold medal to Nurse Condon, the hoard derided to present a meda 1 to* Nurse Stevenson, as a memento of an unique occasion, states a Press Association message from Stratford.
