HISTORICAL RECORDS.
COLLECTED BY MR. E. BEZAR. A most unusual collection of records has been made by Air E. Bexar, of Wellington, in the form of -all the press messages received during war T.ime, from .Julv 3, 1914. The magnitude of the collection—they are neatly cut -and pasted in volumes —can be- imagined when it is realised that they fill twentyeight quarto volumes. They are arranger in order of date, arid cover a period of twelve years. Air Bezar estimates that lie has taken three years doing this work. His old regiment, the 57th —“Diehards.” a name well known in Taranaki’s early history—-supplied fortyseven. battalions durino- the Great War, and t he records show that the regiment lost 12,094 men. It is known now as the First Middlesex (Duke of Cambridge’s Own). The cable records are to he presented to reading rooms, to hosoitals a.nd to prison libraries. Some of them a<re being sent to Hawera. Mr Bezar loft for hi-.s home in Wellington this morning, .spending a. few days on route.
