FIRST WOMAN GOVERNOR. "MA” FERGUSON GOES OUT. AUSTIN (Texas), Jan. 29. “Ma” Ferguson, the first woman Governor, has passed out of office, resuming the homely role of grandmother. Her "long suit” in office was undoing the work of the criminal courts. In the last week of her regime 227 convicts were pardoned, making a total of 3500 pardons in two years. Included in those were 48 murderers. When she stepped out of office virtually all the convicts stepped out too.
