LONDON TALLOW SALES. Messrs Daigety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from London under date of the 2nd instant: —Tnt’ow : 1010 casks offered; 353 casks sold. Organisation Society is in receipt of the following cabled advice from its London representative; — “Wool sales cosed to-day. Prices, compared with opening rates — merinos firm but unchanged; crossbreds to 5 per cent up.’’ FEJLDLNG RAM FAIR. FEILDINCL Feb. 4. The ram fair was continued to-day. The best price obtained for a stud Romney was 6-5 guineas, the vendor being Mr. J. A. Mitchell, of Longburn, and the purchasers Voss Rios., of Longburn. The sale again dragged. Stud Southdowns by well-known breeders sold well, but’others were not wanted. The best price obtained for a stud Southdown was 55 guineas, the vendor being Air. C. E. Vile (Bulls) and the purchaser Air. F. J. Ellis (Bulls). I iock Southdowns sold up to 15 guineas. One Australian buyer took nearly 400 flock Romneys, mostly of the cheaper lots. DISTR ICT MARKET REPORTS. The Farmers’ Co-op. Organisation Society reports as follows: — At. ITrcnni on Aronday a fair yarding came forward to a good attendance of buyers, and a good sale resulted. Store cows £2 to £3 17s, 18 months steers

to £4 3s, fat heifers £4 5s to £6, fat cows £6, 2-year ALT. heifers £2 10s to £3 J2s, aged ewes 14s. At Opunako on Alonday there was a good yarding of store cattle. There was a largo attendance and a good clearance resulted. We quote: fat cows £5 10s to £6 12s Gd, light do to £4 15s, store and boner cows at late rates, Shorthorn weaner sheers £2 Bs. On Tuesday at Afanaia there was a medium yarding. Competition was keen, and we report a clearance at late rates. At Eltham on AVednesday, the 2nd February, we had a medium yarding, which was cleared at good rates. We quote: Light store pigs 19s to 22s 6d, light fat cows £4 10s to £5 2s 6d, store cows £2 6s to £3, works bulls £2 17s 6d to £4 10s, Jersey and Jersey cross heifers r.w.b. £4 4s to £4 10s, dairy cows £5 10s to £7 12s 6d, weaner calves £2. At Hawera on Friday tho yarding was reduced considerably, the sale having been postponed on account of the race meeting. There was a large attendance and competition was keen, and we report .a total clearance. In the sheep pens the yarding was wholly comprised of lambs, mostly small and medium sorts. AVe quote from 9s to 14s Bd. An exceptionally large number of pigs carno forward, about 160 being yarded. Prices showed a decline on previous sales, but vendors met 'the market. Aledium porkfirs to £2, large store pigs £1 5s to £1 9s. There was a fair yarding in the cattle pens. Competition was good, and a total clearance was effected at slightly' advanced rates on previous sales. Fat cows £5 to £6, heavy works cows to £4. young store cows to £4, boners 35s to £3, works bulls £3 12s 6d to £5 15s. On the same day we held our usual fortnightly Waver] cy sale. We submitted a large yarding of sheep to n big attendance. Bidding was brisk throughout and wo report a total clearance at the hammer with tho exception of one lot. Some .3500 sheep were sold, and the following is the range of prices: On account Afessrs Elmslie Bros. 439 4yenr ewes, 19s 4d; account Air Jim Robertson, 420 medium 2-tootli ewes, 24s Id; account Afessrs Johnson Bros.. 131 good 2-t.oofh ewes, 275; on account of other clients, 2-tooth ewes to 275, 4tooth ewes 26s Id, 4-year ewes 17s, w.f. wether lambs (good) 15s lid to 16s 2d. cull lambs to 10s, 1 shear S.D. rams to lOgns. In the cattle pens there was a small yarding which was cleared at late rates.
