CASH ATHLETICS.
MANAIA SPORTS CLUB ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Manaia Hibernian and District Sports Club was held last evening, the president (Mr J. A. Hansen) presiding over a small attendance. The annual report (published yesterday) was read and adopted. ' The secretary read the balancesheet, and stated that on the actual year’s working the club was in credit to the extent of 12s, but an amount of £l6 incurred the previous year, when the sports bad to be abandoned, had been met; this left a debit balance of £ls Bs. Office-bearers for the current period were elected as follows: Patron, Father O’Dwyer; president, J. A. Hansen; vice-presidents, C. A. Burke and J. W. Paterson; executive, E. T. Burke, J. Landers, J. Hickey, J. Christie, E. Long. N. C. Lines. H. E. Sutton. R. and C. Franklin. A. Mitchell. J. E. Ward, F. Mourie, G. R. Watts; secretary and' treasurer, W. J. Badley; auditor, J. A. G. Cosgrove; programme' committee, president. secretary, J. Paterson, C. Burke and J. Landers; track superintendent, J. Hickey.
The question of settling a. date for this vear’s athletic and cycling fixture was discussed. It was suggested that the secretary should/ communicate with various clubs with a- view of . arranging a date most suitable for visiting athletes. —It was decided that the programme committee should meet. at an "early date to discuss the question of date. Appreciative reference to the services of the secretary was made, and he was voted an honorarium of £lO 10s. A vote of appreciation was accorded to retiring officials.
