The .ship Helen A 100 re, with sails blown away by a gale having a velocity of 60 miles per hour, drifted off Queen scliff until daylight. The lifeboat crew was summoned by the ringing of the wreck bell, which brought hundreds or people to the pier. A rocket from the Helen Al-oore was also, seen by the destroyer Yarra, which was anchored at Swan Island naval depot. The destroyer joined in the search for the distressed vessel, but without success, no further distress signals being seen. At daylight the Helen Aloore was located, apparently aground. The lifeboat was again put. out and brought the crew ashore. Later a tug left to In mg the Helen Moore to port.
