MANAIA TOWN BOARD.
' MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Manaia Town Board was held last evening, when there were present: Commissioners N. C. Innes (chairman), Y. H. Hobday, H. Mead, J. A. G. Cosgrove, E. J. Massey, H. Holmes and J. Hickey. The foreman, Mr J. D. Borrie, reported that a considerable period of the month had been occupied in top-dress-ing the main streets with shingle on account of the tar bleeding during the hot weather. The corner of Terou and Hassard streets had been levelled. The settling tanks at the intake had been thoroughly cleaned out and everything had been found on inspection to be in first-class order. Details' of tbe two alternative schemes for the allocation of heavy traffic fees during the coming year Was forwarded by the Taranaki Local Bodies’ Association with a request that the board should confer with the iWaimate West County Council and submit a recommendation before February 19. —lt was decided that the chairman should confer with the chairman of the County Council in the matter. Permission was granted to the Waimato Horticultural Society to -charge admission to the Domain on the occasion of the annual show, and also to fence off part of Hassard street as a horse paddock. Correspondence was received from the Egmont National Park Board relative to personnel. The chairman and Cr. Hickey were appointed the board’s representatives on the south committee. The clerk reported that receipts for the month had totalled £537 14s 9d. Of this £439 19s 9d was on account of special and general rates, £S6 10s for rents, £5 grazing licenses, £3 cemetery fees, and £9 ‘ss on account of domain rents. This was generally agreed to be highly satisfactory. Accounts totalling £122 10s were passed for payment.
