PAITIATUA RAILWAY - STATION BURGLED. N (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) PAHIATUA, Feb. 1. The cracksmen who have been visiting Levin and Linton railway stations, securing booty on each instance, evidently included Pahiatua in their itinerary, for shortly before seven o’clock this morning a porter when going on duty found the door of the stationmaster’s office widely open, also that the safe in the vicinity of the ticketbooking window had been blown open by a powerful explosive. The suin' of £22 had been stolen, comprising silver, -bank notes and cheques. The inside casing of the door w*as blown right off. A jemmy had apparently been employed to open the front door.

Show has also been postponed. LABOUR DISPUTE AT GISBORNE. GISBORNE, Feb. 1. Work on the steamer Mahana, which is loading frozen meat in the roadstead, was suspended to-day owing to labour troubles. The men desired to appoint their own foreman and, this right being refused, came ashore. BUILDINGS DESTROYED BY FIRE GISBORNE, Fob. 1. A large woolshed, the property of Bloomfield Bros.. "Whatatutu, was destroyed by fire last night. It was insured for £1950 in the New Zealand Office. A fire in town destroyed the residence of Mr A. E. Beleliffe.
