TRADE WITH U.S.A.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR EXPANSION
CHANCE FOR NEW ZEALAND
(BY TKIiEGUAPR- "PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 31. Mr. E. G. Pauly, American Trade Commissioner for Australia and New Zealand, was a passenger by the liner Niagara. He expressed the opinion that at present there was a wonderful opportunity for the extension of New Zealand trade with America, particularly in connection .with the export of the Dominion’s primary products. First grade New Zealand butter and iamb had been welcomed on the American market, the quality being ,so good that American consumers were prepared to buy it whenever they had the opportunity. The trade* balance, now favouring the United States, could he greatly altered with the development by New Zealand of American markets for the sale of best grade primary products. Something could be done by better advertising methods. He was strongly of - opinion that a New Zealand Trade Commissioner should be appointed who was au fait with the requirements of the American markets.
