SOUTH TARANAKI COMPETITION. RAWER A A BEAT PARK A. Hiawera A beat Park A on Saturday, ou the Hawera courts, by 12 matches to 4 (126 games to 86). The single. l were evenly divided, Haweraks leading men, Jones and McCarthy, beating Kururangi and Billows -respectively, while Rudge and R-rannve.il, Park’s third and fourth players, accounted for their adversaries, Oapleu and Ryan. All the H-awera ladies- won then singles easily, with the exception oi Miss Burgess, from whom Mrs. Davy captured five games ill the seven-up set . In the- men's doubles the form shown in the singles held good, Jones and McCarthy winning the- first pan match, and Rudge and Bnamwell the second. Hawera won both ladies’ dc-übie-s. Park won only one mixed, that in which Billows and Mrs. Bernard beat McCarthy -and Miss Knight.

Mixed Doubles. —Jones and Miss Whittington beat Kururangi and Mrs Rudge, 9—-8; McCarthy and Miss Knight lost to Billows and Mrs. Bernard, 6—9; Capien -and Miss Huggins beat Rudge land Mrs. Hunt, 9—7; Ryan and Miss Burgess heat Rramwell and Mrs. Davy. 9—4.
MANAIA BEIAT PARK R. Mauaia played Park B at Mauaia. The home side proved much the stronger, and won by 16 matches (128 games) to 0 (58 games). Bell, lourth man in the singles did best for the visitors, securing sue games of the rune-up sec. I*'ranklyn. made the next best showing with four games. -Miss Hicks, in the ladies’ singles, took live games before being Vanquished by -Miss Olague. In the men’s doubles Park B offered strong opposition, and both pairs readied seven games in the nine game set. Airs. Goodwin and Miss Hicks gave the Misses Hides land Ofague a game as the score, 7—5, indicates. Freeman and Mrs. Goodwin, in winning iive games in nine from Christie aiid Mass Hides, were the best mixed pali of the losers.
