SEAMEN’S UNION.
DIFFERENCES MAY BE VENTILATED IN COURT. (by TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 29. The causes of the differences in the Seamen’s Union, no publio statement of which has yet been fully made, are likely to be more freely ventilated, as it was ascertained to-day that a writ has been issued on behalf of the Wellington Federated Seamen’s Industrial Union, of Workers, a body registered under the Industrial and Conciliation Arbitration Act, plaintiffs, against Messrs Peter Fraser and Joseph WilTrini, trustees of the Federated Seamen’s Union, of New Zealand and Messrs Fittes, Currie and Young, three officials of the Wellington Seamen’s Union and the bank holding the funds, the Union Bank of Australia, defendants. An injunction was issued yesterday ;y Mr. Justice Reed from the Supreme Court, on the application of Mr. E. P. Hay, restraining all defendants Loin dealing with the money at the hank, pending a further order of the court.
The writ is for £2673 which the plaintiffs allege was recently transferred from their account to that of a new organisation.
