The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, the largest of its kind in, America, has announced that the deatli rate from alcoholism among the company’s 17,000,000 oolicy-holders was greater in 1926 than in any year since 1917. The rate for 1926 was 3.7 per 100,000 against three in 1925. Tbe rate for last year was six times as great as in 1920, which was the year of tlie lowest rato evir recorded. The highest rate was 0.3 in 1912.
