SEW PLYMOUTH TOURNEY. LOBJ3 WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. The New Plymouth bowling was concluded on Saturday when Lobb (.West End; won tire championship. Tne results of the final rounds were : SEMI-FINAL. W. Oliver (West End) 23 v. E. Bolton 21. ,J. i.obb (Vfesr End) a bye. FINAL. j. I.obb (West End) 23 v. W. Oliver (West xtnd) 14. 'Enough Puttier’s (Park) rink was beaten by a majority of' six in- the sixth round it made a gallant struggle and after being nine down at the ilth head, Kendall, who was in good form, helped his skip to add three and then came a sensational head. Victoria lying tnree when Butler played his last oowi, trailed Kitty and cnanged the three against to five for his rime. Bolton, however, drew the second shot with his last. Good play by Park, getting a two and a single reduced the margin to three, 19 to 16. Victoria, however, added three and the match ended 22 —16 against Park. Lobb and Dingle also payed a hard match. Each led alternately till near the end when Lobb led 3.7—16 and a two to him gave his rink the match by three, points. THE SEMI-FINAL. Oliver (West End) met Bolton (Victoria) in the semi-final. The former’s rinK, playing consistently, scored on every head but one up to the seventh when they led 12—1. Then Victoria came to light and altered the position somewhat, and at the 13tli the score was 16 —4. Bolton added two couples while his opponents got five and at the 16th Victoria was twelve behind, 20 —8. A four in the next, and Victoria’s chances were better. Again Victoria scored four, the opposing skip failing in a drive i and taking out iii s own bowl. With four heads to go the margin was only four against Victoria. West End Skip playing nicely, with iiis last bowl, added one and the head gave them three- 23—-16. Victoria in the last- head but one scored two and the final was exciting as Victoria lay one when the skip tried two drives and failing to dislodge his opponent’s bowls, W’est End won 23—21. THE FINAL. Lobb met Oliver, both West End rinks, in the final and scoring consistently, he had a lead of eight —9 to 1— on the fourth head. He scored one again on the fifth and his opponent got the same on the next. Oliver’s .ink, playing well, got three and a single and drew up to 11—6. Lobb got four on the next, the 9th, and the score was 15 —6. Again Lobb scored three while his opponents put on six and the prospects were better for them. Lobb’s men added two singles i and a two in the next three heads. Oliver could not- get going and only added a single and at the 18th the score showed a margin to Lobb of ten points. Oliver improved by adding two, but on the last Oliver, trying to drive, cut out one of his own, left Lobb one up and gave him the match 23—14. PRESENTATIONS. The trophies were presented to the winners by the president (Mr. E. Dingle) who congraulatcd all on tlio play and said that tlie best team bad on. He complimented the committee on the [good arrangements. West End he added, had made a recorder providing the two finalists. J. Lobb and F. J. Hill, for the runners-up, returned thanks for their reception, a vote of thanks and cheers for the ladies and the winning rinks concluded a successful tourney.
