The Sheffield- Shield match resulted m n win for New South AVuies by an inn r.gs and- 253 runs. . Victoria, vi liar first innings, were disr.i-.ssed for 35 runs, Davie not out. 10. Icing the only batsman to reach double figures. McNamee took seven wickets for 21 runs, and Macartney three for 10. Following on, Affetoria made 181 (Hendry. 28, Baring 35, Liddicut 55). Macartney took two for 14, McNamee three for 41, Everett two for 45, and Fox two for 17.
A’ictoria resumed their first innings this morning on a tricky wicket. The batsmen were hopelessly at sea against Macartney and McNamee, the latter’s figures for the morning being six for 10. Both bowled superbly, taking full advantage or their opportunities. Victoria’s second strike was more lively. Hendry, Baring and Liddicutt indulged in some hard hitting.

Telegraphic advice has been received by the Taranaki Association from; Gisborne approving of the dates for the Hawke Cup challenge match, Thursday and Friday of next week at New Plymouth. MATCH BY DEFAULT. Tn North Taranaki junior competition recently Okato travelled to play Borough A and found the latter, without sending advice, had not. turned up. As the visitors had travelled a considerable distance and some had paid for substitutes at their work, Okato claimed tlic* match by default, and the claim was upheld by the Association at a meeting last night.
