Signor Marconi, speaking at a luncheon given by the Foreign Press Association ieveaied the fact that the Anglo-Canadian beam station was being simultaneously utilised for telegraphy and telephony. ' Mr. C. A. Matieu, one of Marconi s experts, successfully conversed with Canadians without interference or disturbance of either telegraphic or telephonic communications. Tnerefo.e Signor Marconi believed that it wouid soon be possible to establish both telephonic and tlegraphio servi as to all countries served by the beam. He added that the defects in the auxiliary apparatus causing the difficulties with the Australian tests were being remedied by the Australian company . He believed the tests were carried out before the system was tuned up. Neither Marconi’s nor the Australian company doubted the early and complete success of Anglo-Australian beam transmission. He expressed the opinion that television would shortly be practical.
