Lime Corrects “Fertilizer Sick” Soils 'J'HE introduction of commercial fertilizers lias made liming more necessary than it would have been had stable manures always been employed. In the presened of an immense amount of food the plants are starved, because the soil conditions are unsanitary. The finest soil the writer has over seen was upon land whore clover should have been growing, but which had been made so acid by the artificial manures that it could not live. Absence of lime frequently appears to be the limiting factor in this section, and much fertilizer is wasted because crops cannot use it until lime is supplied.
