Large areas of land in the Perwillowen district iir© moving, but it is- not known whether they are land-slides as the result of rain. In one instance a farm was moved bodily across a. road a chain wide, andi the road in the vicinity disappeared for a distance of a mile. A rumbling sound had been heard and wide fissures are appearing in the ground in many places. Residents are removing from the district. The rain has ceased in most districts and the flood waters are subsiding, but great areas are still inundated land it will be some time before an estimate of the damage- can be made. FLOOD SHORTAGE THREATENED. BRISBANE, Jan. 27. Unless supplies of food are quickly despatched by train there will be a serious food shortage in some of the flooded areas. The city reaches of the Brisbane River are very flooded, and there is much concern in the city about the basements and the backing up of the sewers hv the flood waters.
