PERSONAL ITEMS.

At the Hauer a. Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club yesterday afternoon the members took an oportunity of bidding farewell and bon voyage to Mrs. A. J. Glasson, who is leaving shortly on a visit to Honolulu.

Mr Campbell Scolon, manager of the Bank of New South Wales at Courtenay Place, Wellington, formerly of Hawera, passed through town "from New Plymouth yesterday. He is returning to Wellington after competing in the bowls tournament in New Plymouth.

Messrs Peter Eadie and K. Cameron, well-known figures in Highland circles m New Zealand, who have been staying in Hawera for the recent Caledonian meeting, left by the- express train for Turalcina this morning to attend the Caledonian .meeting there to-morrow. Miss C. M,. Eobertson, who for three and a half years has been a member of the teaching staff of the Hawera school, has been transferred’ to the West End School, at New Plymouth. Miss Eobertson, who has been a popular member of the Hawera Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club was entertained at afternoon tea by the club yesterday. The vice-president (Mrs. Bilton) presided. Miss Eobertson was presented with a token of esteem by her fellow member's, and received a boquet at the hands of Miss Jocelyn Evans. The. Bev. 8,.. E. and Mrs. Evans, who returned to Hawera on Wednesday, after a motor camping tour to Auckland, relate very favourable experiences, and that they were particularly impressed with the popularity of this mode of travel, as evidenced by the large number of holiday-makers on the road.
