PARISHIONERS’ AIEETING
A meeting of parishioners of St. Cuthbert’s Church and citizens of Manatio. and district was* held last evening n the Alanaia Town Hall. There was a good attendance. The object- of the meeting was to give a farewell and presentation to the Rev. A. C. Swaiaason, vicar of St. Cutlibert’s, Alanaia, and family, who are leaving Alanaia at the beginning of next month to go to Plimmerton, Wellington. Sir Al. le Fleming presided. It was resolved, on the motion of Messrs A. J. Hanst© and C. le Fleming, that a farewell .social and presentation be held in Alanaia Town Hall on Wednesday, February 2, at 8 p.m. Various committees were set up, including a ladies’ committee, comprising nil present, with power to add. The music and programme* committee comprises Afessrs C. Abbott, L. S. Alackie and J. Cosgrove; and the ladies’ committee Alesdame® T. Sutherland, D. Mitchell. Davies. A. J. Hanson, Airs and Aliss Cassidy, E. Walker, Airs and Miss A. Hansen, Airs T. Hotter. THE HALF-HOLIDAY.
A snecial meeting of the Alanaia Town Board wn s held last evening for the purpose of fixing the .statutory half-ho’idav for Alanaia. Present: Commissioners N. C. Innes (chairman), V. H. Hobday, H. Alead, J. A. G. Cosgrove, E. Alassev and H. Holmes. It was resolved, on the motion* of Commissioners E. Afassey and 11. Holmes that Wednesday be the halfholiday.
