A YOUNG WOMAN’S DEATH. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION, i AUCKLAND, Jan. 19. A verdict that death was due to cerebral haemorrhage following on chronic nephritis, was returned by the coroner in tlie case of Miss Myrtle. Winifred Spanhake, who died in the Auckland Hospital last- Saturday. Deceased, who was 21 years of age, became suddenly ill on Friday, and, ns food poisoning 'was suspected, a posU morten was held. BODY WASHED ASHORE. AUCKLAND. Jan. 20. A body hia,s been washed ashore at Waiheke Island. It is believed to be that of Harold Tidd, who was lost from a pleasure boat off Motuihi Island on January 8. Tidd had stripped when the boot capsized and the body found was not clothed. A CHILD DROWNED. GISBORNE, Jan. 20. While his two elder brothers were swimming in the river at Muriwai, James Desmond McCabe, a four-year-old child who was left playing on the bank, must have fallen into the water. His brothers, aged 12 and seven, missed him when they left the water, hut thinking lie had gone back to the house, went away through the paddocks and played. After they had been playing for some time,, they began to wonder where -their young brother was, and eventually saw his body caught in a snag in the creek. The body was rescued, hut life was extinct. ’ The fatality occurred on Mr R. K. Murphy’s property near Muriwai, where the parents of the children arc living.
