DIVORCE IN ENGLAND

OPER ATION OF NEW PUBLICITY LAW. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRIGHT. LONDON, Jan. 14. Describing the present precedure in the Divorce Court since detailed newspaper reports have been forbidden bv law, the Daily Express says: ‘‘Parties to a suit * now give evidence in rapid succession. Suit follows suit with almost equal rapidity. Barristers have V>st much of their former emotional appeal. A dry recital of circumstances is followed by the corroboration of a few witnesses. Then comes a formal appeal for a decree.” The newspapers now rarely publish even such brief reports as the law. permits. Opinion is expressed that this is likely in the course of time to encourage the increase of suits.
