DEFENCE AND TRADE DOMINION’S CONTRIBUTION NO COMMENT TO MAKE BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION - COPYRIGHT OTTAWA, Jan. 14. “Canada’s contribution to Imperial defence is a question for your Prime Minister, Mr Mackenzie King,’’ declared the Hon. J. G. Coates in a statement here. It was a question upon which he did not wish to express an opinion. Mr Coates hoped to discuss the question of better trade relations between Canada and New Zealand. While saying he was anxious to increase trade between the two countries, he indicated that a new trade agreement might- possibly come later. INTER-DOMTNJ ON TRADE. PRELIMINARIES FOR AGREEMENT. Received 10.5 a.m. to-day. OTTAWA, Jan. 14. The Rt. Hob. J. G. Coates, lunched with the: Rt. Hon. W. McKenzie King to-day. He was the guest of the Government at a dinner to-night. It is hoped that preliminaries to a trade agreement between New Zealand and Canada will he reached during Mr Coates’s visit, and it .is believed New Zeaand will later send -a delegation to Ottawa to discuss trade relations further, and possibly conclude a definite agreement.
