BERLIN, Jan. 13. The extent to which Englishmen are wearing German hats is disclosed by figures showing that 1,708,000 hats were exported to England last, year. VANCOUVER, Jan. 13. MELBOURNE, Jan. 14. The young woman whose body was found yesterday has been identified as Eileen Clarke, a single woman, aged 25 years, who was a waitress in a city restaurant. Death was due to malpractice, and occurred evidently two davs ago. LONDON, Jan. 13. The Miners’ Federation announces the receipt of £IOO,OOO from Russia and £3OOO from Australia, for the socalled “miners’ victimisation fund.” Other sums are coming from overseas, and it is hoped to raise £20.000. MELBOURNE, Jan. 14. The city is again in the throes of a heat wave. To-day is the sixth day in succession of excessive temperatures. The thermometer was at 107 degrees. A cool change arrived this afternoon. Another death, attributed to the heat, occurred at the Old People's Homo. AMSTERDAM. Jan. 13. The general council of tlie International Federation of Trade Unions again defeated by 12 votes to six the English proposal' that the federation confer with the Soviet Trade Union Council. The council also resolved to assure the Mexican people of th© International Labour movement’s support in resisting foreign aggression and interference. LONDON, Jan. 14.
