SCOUTS’ JAMBOREE
FINAL TRAINING DAY. SPORTS AND DEMONSTRATION. Beautiful weather again prevailed for the final training term at the Boy Scouts' jamboree to-day. A Scouts rally followed the routine parade observances this morning and parties were afterwards detailed for instruction in ambulance work, bridge building and signalling. A conference of scouters was also held. Approval was expressed by the camp commandant, District Scoutmaster N. P. Waite, and other leaders concerning the excellent standard of discipline maintained throughout the week and the value of the instruction afforded. Much support was given to a proposal that similar gatherings should be held at regular periods in the future. During the morning a farewell was
extended to the camp chaplain, Scoutmaster the Rev. E. J. Dabourne, who returned to Waverley. Sports and scouting demonstration 'work were arranged this afternoon, and visitors included a party of approximately 40 girl Guides from Hawera. The public are invited to attend the final camp fire concert, commencing at 7 o’clock this evening. A varied programme will include an address by the Rev. R. T. Haddon (Tahupotiki) 'relating to the history of the redoubt in the camp. The public are also invited to attend the church parade at 10 a.m. to-morrow, when the service will be conducted by the Rev. L. C. H. Barbour, of Hawera, and the camp will also be open to visitors in the afternoon. Camp will be struck on Monday morning- -
