CHRISTMAS CHEER FOR- MENTAL PATIENTS. Appreciation of the donation of a substantial sum on behalf of returned soldier inmates of the Porirua- Mental Hosjhtal is contained in -a letter trout the medical superintendent, Dr. H. J. lizard, to the secretary of the Manaia and AYaimate West County Ladies’ Patriotic Committee. The letter reads: “I have to acknowledge the receipt of your communication covering cheque for £65 4s 3d to provide good cheer for the returned soldiers, of whom- there are just over 70 in this hospital. On behalf of the soldiers will you please convey to your committee my best thanks for "your handsome contribution. The money is expended solely for soldier patients on luxuries and presents of various kinds, and as soon as the weather is more settled we propose giving them a day’s motor outing and general picnic. I thank you for your good wishes to myself and staff, and heartily reciprocate same for your good selves and donors to this deserving fund.”
