AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
VISIT OF R. W. LAMB. In connection with the visit to .Hawera of R. W. “Fatty”) Lamb, which had been arranged for Friday, January 28, word was received from the Wanganui Centre yesterday to the effect that Lamb cannot compete here on that date. The centre has offered a visit from the famous cyclist on either January 27 or 31. As the former date is the day following the Caledonian Sports, it "is not acceptable, and the Hawera Club’s committee is endeavour) tig to arrange for the use of the, A. and P. Association’s ground on Monday. January 31. Entries for the Caledonian Society’s meeting will be received until 9 o’clock this evening by the bon. secretary of the Caledonian" Society, or Mr G. H. Weir, or Mr L. I. Marter.
