PERSONAL ITEMS.
Mr. G. Winder, late of Hawera, but now of Wellington, arrived in town yesterday on a short visit, leaving again this morning! Mr. A. F. Smith, advance agent of the Australian Silver Band, arrived in Hawera from New Plymouth last evening. He stayed at the White Hart Hotel overnight and left by mail train this morning for Wanganui. In connection with the recent University examinations, the Rev. John Craig, of New Plymouth, was successful in passing the B.A. examination in history! During the absence of Mr J. Baillie in Ireland, Mr Craig was relieving headmaster of Kanonga Public School. Mr. G. E. H. Darden, local representative of the British Imperial Oil Company, returned to Hawera by last night’s express after a holiday spent in Dunedin. Sister Queenle Condon, of the Stratford hospital staff, topped the list of passes in midwifery for the Dominion in recent examinations. Sister Condon is a niece of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Bashford, of Kaupokonui. Another member of the staff. Nurse Doris Lund, passed the maternity examination with honours.
