The Archbishop of Canterbury « New Year message points out the artermath of the general striae and suggests that we are- standing in humiliation, but Bunyan -said: “The Valley or Humiliation is as fruitful as any the crow flies over.” We must not forget that Europe, owing to the League of Nations and the Thoiry conversations, had progressed towards 'peace during the year. We must remember the achievements of the Imperial Conference, of a fuller understanding and its promise of a more stable' peace. Voices front South Africa ring more hopefully and there is -more sunshine through the clouds in Ireland and India.
