HOUSE DESTROYED BY FIRE. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.! BLENHEIM, Dec. 30. A five-roomed dwelling at Riverlands, owned and occupied by Mr Walter Frederick Millard, was totally destroyed by fire, together with its contents. Nobody was at home at the time of the outbreak. The insurances were £6OO on the house*in the State office and. £l5O on the contents in the Victoria office. ROTORUA HAS WET TIME. ROTORUA, Dec. 30. Yesterday afternoon a thunderstorm swept Rotorua, and five inches of rain were recorded in a few hours. The water invaded the shops, and in the streets was rnnning board deep on the cars. Considerable damage was done in the shops. The rain was purely local, extending over a narrow area, and there was no rain at Ngongotahn. A washout on the Whakatane road outside the town is being repaired.
