♦ MATCH WITH WAKEFIELD. NEW ZEALANDERS GIVE FINE DISPLAY. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received 11.20 a.m. to-day. LONDON, Dee. 28. The New Zealand League team scored seven tries and four goals, and Wakefield four tries, three goals, and three penalty goals. There were 7000 spectators. The visitors gave a delightful exhibition and the best display of attacking seen in Wakefield for a long time. They started sensationally, running strongly and passing magnificently, promising for a time to gain a sweeping victory. Thev speedily rattled up a big lead in the ‘ first haif, Gardiner, Kirwan and Brown scoring tries, of which Dufty converted two, while Davies scored a try for Wakefield and Pollard kicked a goal from a penalty. The home team rallied in the second half, Davies, Waters and Parkin scoring. and Pollard goaling five times (twice from penalties). The New Zealanders’ attack .continued vigorously, although their defence was faulty. Avery, Hall and 'Mason added trie3, Dufty, whose kicking was admirable throughout the match, converting twice. The New Zealand team was: Dufty, Brown, Kirwan, Brisbane, Gardiner, Hall, Delgrosso, Menzies, Parlies, Herring, Mason, Thomas and Avery.
