BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHJ LONDON, Dec. 27. Severe cold is reported on the Continent. Heavy snowfalls have occurred throughout Spain and also in Paris, where fountains have been converted into masses of ice. Many rivers have been frozen over. Snow fell in Lisbon for the first time in eighty years. SYDNEY, Dec. 28. Incessant drenching rain continues, the whole State participating thereinA rough sea is running which is hampering shipping, while some rivers are flooding and the railways are hampered bv a number of washaways. To-morrow’s* .Tattersalls races have been postponed owing to the flooding of the course, and thousands ot Christmas campers have been flooded out and driven home.
