A Press Association message from Vancouver states that Charles Lawrence (68), who took the first Australian cricket team to England, died at Seattle on Friday. He will be cremated. An old settler in the Dominion passed to his rest some days ago at Opotiki in the person of Mr Woodford, who had been resident- in that district for a long time. Mr Woodford, . who had reached the! great age of 86 years, had been in perfect health until shortly before his death. Mrs William Wallace, of Hawera. is a and another daughter is Miss Woodford, formerly on the staff of St. Mary’s School, and who is now at Pukekohe. On© son was killed in the Great War.
