The scrapping of the Ajax, King George. sth, Thunderer, and Centurion under the Washington Treaty temporarily reduces the British battleship strength from 18 to 14, compared with America’s 18. as the replacing battleships Nelson and Rodney will probably not.be commissoned for six months. Britain, however, has four battle-cruis-ers, whereas America has none. No further scrapping under the treaty will be required until 1934. —Times.
