TANGARAKAU.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) One of the most pleasing and successful functions ever held in the Flat was the children’s fancy dress party last Friday evening. About 130 children in fancy dress held the floor until 10 p.m.. and their dancing and games were delightful for all onlookers, of which there were about 150. There was not an idle moment — games and dances, seme for tiny tots, some for the elder ones, followed each other in raoid succession. The games were bright and jolly. affording amusement to both onlookers and players: and. as for the dancing, who does not eniov watching hapnv mites in delightful costumes performing the stens with jov. daintiness and enthusiasm. The independence of the children. who conducted their part unaided by adults, is exemplified in two of the hors. Selwvn Herdmuu and Tom Sullivan, acting as masters of ceremonies, and right well they carried out, their duties. The organisation of the children’s portion of +he programme -was in the hands of the tensors of the school wh-o haa-e heeu givin lessons a p +er school for some weeks past.. The catering for supper and organisation the adult programme was in the oV!c hands of the School Committee. The organisers desire to express their thanks”to Miss Manson and . others for their generous assistance in supplying music for the practices and to the ladies who so kindly assisted the committee at the tables.
