AUCKLAND, Dec. 13. i His Honour, Mr. Justice Reed, sen--1 tenced the following prisoners this morning: William Thomas, for breaking, entering and theft, to two years’ hard labour. V, William James Fox, for breaking, entering, and theft in 1920. to twelve months’ hard labour. CABINET-MAKER FINED. GREYMOUTH. Dec. 13. Charles Uddstrom, a cabinet-maker, was fined the minimum of £lO on a charge of using a planing machine for which a certificate had not been issued, this being contrary to section 33 of the Inspection of Machinery Act. 1908. Defendant was also fined £5 for not complying with an inspector’s notice concerning the machine, this being contrary to -section 14. The costs amounted to- £5 19s. DRUNK IN A MOTORS PALMERSTON N., Dec. 13. Charged with drunkenness while in charge of a- motor car on Saturday, Josenh Rumble, a farmer of Huaora. pleaded guilty at the Magistrate’s Court this morning. The police -statement was that white tnrnine a corner at Broad and Run Time Streets onSaturday evening, defendant crashed into another car, at the time travelling b-etw-een 35 aircl 40 mil-es Tioirr, and on tbe wrong sicl of the road. T>efendant. in an explanation, denied being drunk, and also tbe speed alleged bv tbe nolice. A fine of £lO was inflicted. Defendant’s license was cancelled. A new one will not. be issued until six i months aft-or Aoril 1 next.
