EIRE AT HAMILTON. (by telf.gr a pit press association.) HAMILTON, Dec. 10. A fire last night in the premises of Messrs A. King and Co., vulcanisers, partially destroyed the workshops and damaged the rubber stocks. The brigade had great difficulty in subduing the flames, but the adjoining premises were saved. The losses were covered by insurance. RATES PAID AT NEW PLYMOUTH. NEW PLYMOUTH, Dec. 10. Of £48.677 rates receivable by the New Plymouth Borough Council for the current’year, £47,319 has been paid to date, leaving only £1358 outstanding. This affords strong evidence of the financial soundness of the town. PICTURES ON CHRISTMAS DAY. AUCKLAND, Dec. 10. Owing to a misunderstanding on the Town Clerk’s part, Auckland picture theatres have heen prevented from opening the last two Christmases, hut this year they will he open on December 25 from 2.30 p.m., subject to the programme being approved. No employee who desires to have a holiday is to he required to work.
