A mass meeting of North Island farmers here to-night reviewed the influences adverse to the prosperity of the r primary producer. The big attendance included farmers from all North.' Island provinces, while among the speakers were Mr W. J. Poison, president of the New Zealand Farmers 5 Union, Sir Andrew Russell (Hastings), Messrs A. Stev.-art (Marton), W. Perry fMastorton), John Cobbo (Feilding), W. B. Mathieson (Eketahuna), J. Vickers (Taranaki), C. K. Wilson (Piopio), W. Morrison (Wanganui). Resolutions were passed calling,for the abolition of the Arbitration Court, the establishment of the system of rural credits as recommended by the Royal Commission, the extension of overseas markets for Dominion, produce and economy in public expenditure to allow of reduced taxation. Several Parliamentarians were present as well as the Hon. O. J. Hawken, Minister of Agriculture, and the Hon. A. D. McLeod, Minister of Lands, neither of whom took any active part in tho proceedings. The tone of the meeting was one of extreme dissatisfaction with the present position of the farmers. Similar rallies are to be held in other centres.
