At Wembley a year -haw sufficed to turn the ornatepavilions into factories, laundries and garages throughout the country. According to the demolition contractor, A. J. Elvin, the concrete walls of the famous palace of beauty, now form the foundation of one of the new arterial roads from London. The Ceylon pavilion is a coaclibuilding factory in London, the Nigeria pavilion is a garage at Preston, the Palestine pavilion is a laundry at Glasgow, and others are being used abroad. Mr Elvin has now contracted to demolish the Dominions’ pavilions, from which he expects to- obtain fifteen thousand tons of steel. Australian and Canadian buildings contain 2500 tons of timber apiece, and will provide material for several factories. Only the solidly built palace of engineering housing tlie .arts and civic hall, conference hall, theatre and stadium is to be- allowed to remain.
