ACTION AGAINST WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL. ACCIDENT- ON A TRAM. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.; WELLINGTON, Dec. 3. Arising from an accident when a tram stopped suddenly when a pole came off the overhead wire, Francis Roberts Oakden, a storeman, sought £3OO from the Corporation at the Supreme Court to-day. While descending the stairs of a double-decker, he alleged that he was thrown violently against part of the tram and rendered unconscious. He was sent to hospital for a week, and was 20J weeks off work owing to injuries to his sight, hearing, and nervous system. The defence was a denial of negligence, and a claim that the accident was one of those happenings which could not he avoided, also that the claimant was malingering and was not injured to the extent alleged.
