Mr. P. Gleeson, of Gisborne, is paying a business visit to Hawera, and is staying at the White Hart Hotel.
Air E. Forster, of the Bank of New Zealand, Eltham', has been transferred to the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland.
The Hon W. How ni e-S tew art, act-in"-Prime Minister, has been advised that the lit. Hon. J. G. Coates will sail from England about December di. Mr P. Mcßarron, formerly accountant of the Hawera office of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd., left for Timaru by the mail train this morning Mr. Mcßarron has been transferred on promotion, ana prior to liis departure was the recipient oi' a presentation from the local staff. ' . Sir Trubv King, who met with an accident on ' Thursday ' while showing visitors over the Ivaritane Hospital at Wellington, was X-rayed on Saturday, when it was discovered that two ribs were broken. He declines to go into hospital or rest. In answer to inquiries as to his health, he replied. “Quite all right; two ribs broken, that’s nothing. Business as usual.’ The death has occurred of the Rev. H. H. B. Winsburv White, at the age of 39 years. The deceased was one of the most popular padres at Trentham Camp and Featherston during and after the war, and was the last chaplain to be demobilised. Prior to that he was vicar of the Blenheim parish. After his camp service he was appointed to the parochial district of Waikouaiti. For some months prior to his death he was working in the social service department of the Anglican Church m Dunedin. He is survived by a wife tma one child. e The friends of Mr. G. Mahoney, of the. Hawera. staff of the Bank of Australasia., will learn witli interest that he lias been transferred on promotion to the Dunedin office. Mr. Mahoney has been on the staff here since 1911, and for several years has been a keen participant in cricket, being on the executive oi the- association and a mainstay of the junior team in Hawera. He will he much missed by members of his club. He expects ho leave Hawera on Saturday, staying for the week-end at Wanganui en route to has new sphere of work.
