TROPICAL AGRICULTURE.
IMPERIAL COLLEGE LUNCHEON. VEGETABLE ALCOHOL. ay CABLJS -PEESS association- -copyeight. LONDON, Nov. 12. The Hon. J. G. Coates and the Hon. S. M. Bruce were among the Dominion guests at a luncheon given in honour of the Imperial College of Tropical Agriculture at Trinidad, which, according to the chairman, Sir A. E. Arthur Shipley, despatches, trained students all over the Empire. Despite the fact that a large proportion of the Empire is in the tropics, tropically trained agriculturists, entomologists, and mycologists are scarce. The tropics have a limitless supply of vegetable alcohol, which might- be the cheapest source of energy in the future. He would not hesitate to ask the Dominions for assistance, because “the wheel that does the squeaking is the wheel that gets the grease.” • Mr Coates promised that New Zealand would consider the -question of rendering assistance. The Dominion representatives inspected models and photographs of the college; also its stores in Haymarket, where they saw an admirable exhibit of Empire "products.
