WARLIKE SPIRIT
STILL ALIVE IN GERMANY LATEST MILITARY MARVEL FRENCH PRESS PERTURBED. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION- COPYRIGHT. Received 12.35 p.m. to-day. LONDON, Nov. 12. The Paris correspondent of the Times says: Newspapers are perturbed at the latest German military manual, which reminds officers that the Reichswehr is the successor to the old army, therefore it is their duty to reconquer for Germany the lost provinces. Newspapers point out that the manual was published since the Locarno Conference, when Germany resigned its claims to Alsace and Lorraine. The Government complained to Dr. Stresemann, who replied that the manual was issued without the knowledge of Cabinet, which ordered its immediate suppression. The newspaper Pertinax now asserts that the manual is still obtainable in Berlin bookshops. The correspondent expresses the opinion that Dr. Stresemann is honestly working for peace, but finds it difficult to get his subordinates to execute his orders.—Times.
