PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mr. \WS. Gibson went to Wellington on a business visit to-day. He will return on Tuesday or Wednesday. Mr W. Smith, of General Motors, Wellington, is on a visit to Hawera. He will be here for some weeks. Dr. Chappie, of Wellington, arrived' in Hawera yesterday. He will remain for some d-ays, staving at the Centra! Hotel. Messrs J. Biown, T. tMjark, and A. P Bennett, the railway re-grading commission, which has been investigating the conditions at Taranaki railway stations, went through Hawera to Wanganui this morning. A visitor to Hawera .yesterday was Lieutenant H. Marshall, chairman of the National Rifle Association. He lias had a long experience of rifle shooting, and has been a consistent competitor’ for many years; It is interesting to record that the district has a particular interest for him because his father, Captain Marshall, was stationed for some vers at'Waihi military camp, and he himself was born there, leaving with his parents as a small boy. The Rev. J. J. North, principal of the Baptist College, Auckland, who is to conduct special services at the Hawera Baptist Church to-morrow and give a iSeries of travel pictures in the Presbyterian Hail on Monday evening, arrived in Hawera this morning. Re was accompanied by Mrs. North. During their stay in Hawera the visitors will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Horner.
